(Brendan, Thomas, Derek and I at PF Changs in April)Summer 2009 has been great so far. I worked the 66th Pepperdine Bible Lectures on campus at the beginning of May and since then I have been residing at the "Barn" in a room I am subleasing for the summer. I live in the Santa Monica Mountains and technically in Malibu, but fairly close to Agoura Hills. The topography here is very different than that in Magnolia, Texas, where I grew up, so it is a nice change. The weather is also better, being less hot and humid, but I have found that the mountains are warmer than the coast, where Pepperdine is located. I am looking forward to moving back to the coastal part of Malibu at the beginning of August.
My goal this summer was to do extra work on film and television, but in the back of my mind I was hoping to also be selected for an internship I applied for through the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to work with an Agency. In March, I sent in my application materials from Switzerland, in April I was notified that I was a finalist, and today I was called and told that I was in fact selected! I will be working with CESD Talent in the Westwood area of LA. It is a paid internship and will last roughly 6-8 weeks. I have not received all of the details, but I will write more about them later.In other good news, I went for my fitting today (and got a haircut) to work on the AMC television series "Mad Men" this Thursday. I will be an extra and one of Manny's Patrons. I am not sure what this will entail, but I am excited to see what extra jobs I can get this summer on the side. God is great and has blessed me with many opportunities and I am excited to see where he leads me next.
