Getting Settled for a Second Semester in LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND
and the Inauguration of President OBAMA
Second semester is going well thus far and things are running smoothly here at La Croisée. We lost some of our Swiss family members and 13 new students have joined us in the house, but they are all quality people and are fitting in great. The first weekend we were all back together we enjoyed hanging out at the house, going out to Le Tresieme Siecle (13th Century) aka THE CAVE for a great night of dancing and we also went Ice Skating. We've been to Les Brasseurs, a brewery in Lausanne, where they serve 5L and 3L shoots of beer and I am back at playing ping pong, which is a regular thing here. We all beat each other so that is fun.

Laura Kashishian, one of my best friends, who is studying in London, UK, this year came to visit me on Sunday, January 18th and I was completely surprised! She was in Interlaken with Caroline and some other friends of ours and on her way to Geneva to fly to London she stopped here and I was able to see her for just over an hour, which isn't much, but so great because I had not seen her in about 8 months. (Below: Laura and I!)

Also, as a house we watched the Presidential Inauguration of President Obama on Tuesday, January 20, and that was a really special experience. Last time a new President was chosen, I was 12, so it was a blessing to now observe our democratic political process. Matt, one of my peers here, was even a delegate at the Democratic National Convention in Denver this year because of his hard work and dedication to the Clinton campaign, so it was great to hear about his experience and see footage from that. We had cookies, brownies, tea and a time of prayer for President Obama and his family as he starts this huge chapter in his life.

I just went to Rome this past weekend (Jan. 22-25) and I will write more about that soon. Hope you are doing well and that you have a great week! God bless,
~ Wade
